THE OPPORTUNITY

This position performs a variety of general labor and maintenance tasks, assisting in skilled and semi-skilled, maintenance, construction, janitorial and equipment tasks in connection with the operation, maintenance and repair of Town parks and facilities. May be assigned on-call duties as required.

JOB SUMMARY

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains grounds and turf in all parks, trails, and street rights-of-way and Town facilities.
  • Janitorial support and facility maintenance including general construction, repair, and cleaning of facilities and parks.
  • Equipment operation, maintenance, and repair. Identify equipment and material needs for assigned project.
  • Support all parks and public works functions as needed.
  • Independently complete assignments and resolve problems under general supervision.
  • Maintain and complete required paperwork, records, and reports related to assigned work activities.
  • Rotating on-call duty as assigned.

Maintenance Worker II Additional Duties:

  • Maintain and install irrigation systems and designated landscape.
  • Apply fertilizers, insecticides and other chemicals safely as needed.
  • Communicate with public regarding public works activities with a high level of customer service. Responds to customer complaints and inquiries.
  • Snow removal and road grading.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; equivalent experience or training may be substituted.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Individual must possess and maintain a current Colorado driver’s license; Class B CDL preferred at time of hire or must obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Previous maintenance or general construction experience preferred.

Maintenance Worker II Additional Requirements:

  • Previous maintenance or general construction experience required.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to maintain neat and legible records.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • The ability to read, comprehend and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of common tools and materials used in construction and maintenance work is highly desired.
  • The ability to perform a variety of semiskilled maintenance and repair tasks; mechanical aptitude; ability to perform task outdoors in a variety of climatic conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other employees, and the public.

    • Maintenance Worker I: $21.00 -$25.00 per hour
    • Maintenance Worker II: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
